very simple question about a harddrive

I have a hard drive that is completely full of information. I recently took it out of my computer and placed in a larger drive. My simple question is:

if i place the old harddrive back into this computer will it try to reformat it? Will i lose my data? I assume not, but i want to make sure before i try it. Thanks everyone!
