A couple weeks ago, my laptop was infected with malware. I've cleaned it up, but one thing I haven't been able to fix is a particular setting. I've tried searching through the folder options menu via the control panel and no luck. When I double click to open say 'My Music' a search window pops up instead of allowing me to view the contents of the folder. When I right click, 'Search' is in bold (somehow this became the default setting) and 'Open' is below it. It's annoying to have to right click in order to open up any folder. Suggestions?

err... this might or might not work, but u can give it a shot.

click start-->run
type c:
hit enter
click tools-->options
click "file types" tab
look for the "file folder" or "folder" options and click on advanced

perhaps somewhere in there, there is a setting u can mess around with to get ur default setting back.
of course, try to remember how to "undo" these step, just in case something goes terribly wrong :p

or you can try screwing around with the registry (data source):

# Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE).
# Open My Computer\ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ Directory\ shell.
# Select New from the Edit menu, and then select Key.
# Here, type the name of the new item you want added to the list, and press Enter.
# Highlight the new key, select New from the Edit menu, and then select Key again.
# Type command for the name of this new key, and press Enter.
# Double-click on the (default) value in the right pane, and type the full path and filename of the application you want associated with this entry.
# Close the Registry Editor when finished.
