just put his code in notepad and save as .htm file. comes up fine.
why only 256mb? in windows xp 256mb is going to be pretty slow. I suggest get more ram. 512mb is sweet spot for general computing also, the case seems very overpriced for a budget build. have you though to go athenatech? anandtech recommended a few cases from them for the budget builds last year. decent company that i think uses rebranded sparkle power supplys. very cheap cases that look good too. dont worry about power supplies too much. as far as i see it, any quality 250w or more psu will run it more than fine since it uses so little power. hy 240w mATX psu handles a amd64, 2 sticks of ram, a 9800 pro oced and flashed, a bevy of usb components plugged in at the same time, a hdd and a optical fine.

May I just suggest you run WinXP and use 512MB of RAM just to be safe..... Win98 wasn't nearly as stable. In a professional environment like that, I would not want Win98 running anything I had to rely on.

What do pre-built restaurant machines cost? I would think industrial machines would be the best solution, as far as design and support. I've seen restaurant/hotel systems integrated into the monitor case.

Anyway, as for the rig as you laid it out, XP would be much better. Win98 is way too unstable in a business environment.
You don't need a high max power from the PS, you need efficiency.
The screen should have all the drivers needed.

How about this case?

Perhaps OP doesn't want to spend money on winXP, or figure out how to pirate it properly, and thusly being cheap, wants to reuse windows 98?

I suggest your Dad work with a local restaurant equipment company and get terminals that will stand up to abuse. I assume these aren't back-office machines since you refer to a touchscreen.

Why can't he choose quality parts? Like...

motherboards: Asus, DFI, MSI

RAM: OCZ, Crucial, Corsair

power supplies: Fortron, Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, OCZ

And get at least Sempron 3100+.

What do I think of your setup? It makes me want to PUKE! Why would anyone bother to put together a system with no-name brands? Cripes, that's what you get when you buy a pre-built. You build a machine so you can get QUALITY.

We might be better able to help you if you could give us an idea of what kind of budget you're working with. From the parts that you picked out, I would assume that the budget is small. One thing that I noticed is that the case is the most expensive item on your list. You should spend less on the case (there are good cases out there for cheaper) and spend more on the CPU and RAM. For example, you could do something like this:

CHAINTECH SPT800 Motherboard - $45
Intel Celeron D 2.8GHz Prescott - $92
G.Skill 1GB (2x512) DDR400 RAM - $75
Antec Solution SLK3000-B Case - $50
Fortron FSP400-60THN 400W PSU - $55

Maybe I should be more explicit. First off, what state do you live in where employees can be forced to pay for breakage on the job? Better check labor laws.

Second, if your Dad is a serious businessman he shouldn't have terminals built by his son, unless his son is in the restaurant equipment business. It just doesn't make sense.
