Very Poor Performance

I installed the nForce drivers from Nvida's website, and am now experieincing very poor performance with my system. Drive writes are slow, and I cannot burn a cd - I get a SCSI/IDE command aborted command. What can I do to fix this?
 
Yes, I put the ASUS CD in the drive and resintalled the drivers that came with motherboard. Took forever to install them - something like 20 mins... but when the system rebooted, it was back to its old frisky self. I can burn CDs and everything. 🙂
