Boy am I pissed. This week I ordered a PIII 700e, Abit Slotket and 256 mg Crucial Ram Cas2 to but in my Abit BX6 R2. I have been looking forward to today to set it up. So I got everything set up and fired it up. Nothing but a blank screen!!!

I am figuring when you just get a black screen it is a video problem...am I right. I am thinking my motherboard my be toast. I had a similar probelm to this before. Sometimes I would boot the computer and get a black screen, or it would boot and would beep then stop, then beep then stop and so on.....I ended up resovling this problem by changing my ram and putting it in a different slot....I figured the slot was gone.

But now I am after trying everything. I have my old processor put back in, my old ram....just the way as it was this morning when it was working fine.....still just a black screen. I am buying a new motherboard this week.....but am I safe to assume that the motherboard is dead. I know it is not the video card too becuase I am using it right now in my girlfriends computer.

Can someone please help me before I take an axe to the works of it all!!!

Thanks.....

did you hear your drives and fans spin up when you power your system up? any beep sounds? any indicator lights came on?

maybe your processor or ram was loose, or you connected the ide cables the wrong way round.

just because the fans spin and the hard drive spins doesn't always mean the PS is good. But with that being said, I think it's a bad motherboard.

so everything turns on but your computer won't post? i think there is some connection wrong or loose somewhere. check your ide connections, your processor, ram. slockets come loose quite easily.

Check all cables and connection, ram and processor...all seem fine....still just getting black screen...and no beeps or anything.

I have been having trouble sometimes with the pwer supply in the past/ Somethimes I would pug the computer in and turn it on and nothing would happen.

Dam this is frustrating. Well at least I am getting a new motherboard this week and a new case...

Anyone else have any suggestion that I might try???

Try putting in 1 stick of ram that you know works (if possible to know), the video card, and the processor in.. but nothing else. Don't plug in the IDE cables, etc, etc. And see if that boots.

It could be as simple as a bad IDE cable.
