I'm working on a spyware infested laptop and I ran spybot and adaware to start with. The computer crashed in the middle of the scanning and after restarting it's completely f'ed up. Any exe file I try to run says, "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an associate in the folder options in Control Panel"

But, as far as I know, .exe's aren't listen in the folder options file association section. How in the hell do I get exe's to run?!
 
How long since it got infected? If you know the approximate timeframe you may try to run a System Restore instead.

I tried to actually. It had an error when trying to boot off the cd. This computer is totally crazy


I managed to get the spyware off and it's decent now. Much faster in the long run actually
