Hi Guys - very odd issue here and i'm hoping some advanced tech guys can help me out.
I purchased a new computer last week and assembled it myself. It seems to be running fine but I intermittently get freezes with an associated audio anomaly. To be clear these freezes last about 1-2 seconds each and come in bursts of 3 or 4 over a period of 10 secs. It is not reproducible at all (as in last night I got them maybe 40 times but today it hasn't happened once). The audio sounds like a power buzz (comes out of the external speakers) and is at very specific pitches (as in a monotone buzzing always at 1 of 3 different pitches).
This happens while browsing the web and playing games alike. It doesn't seem to be stress related and there is no difference in usage or peripherals between when it does happen and when it doesn't.
My setup is at follows:
Basic Components
ASRock p67 Extreme4(B3) motherboard
Intel i5 2500K Core
2x4Gb G.Skill RipJaws-X PC3-10667U CL9 Memory
Cooler Master 690 II Advanced Case
Crucial M4 64GB SSD HD (Connected to SATA 3.0 motherboard port)
Samsung SH-222AB Optical Drive
Sapphire HD6950 Dirt3, 2GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Extras/Peripherals
TP-Link TLWN851-N PCI Wireless Adapter
3 x SATA 2.0 Internal HDs
Simple speakers connected to rear audio jack
2 displays connected over DVI - One is a simple 15" with a VGA->DVI adapter, the other is a 23" Apple Cinema Display.
I am currently running MemTest (no errors as of pass 3). I will be running Prime95. So far I see no extreme temperatures and voltages seem fine when compared to online baselines.
This computer is new as I said. I need help identifying the faulty module so that I can have it replaced. Please let me know if you have any similar issues or troubleshooting steps I can follow.
