'Been a Windoze user for some years now. Thought it would be neat to try Linux. Got Suse 8.0 and have it on my smaller computer (Had a very bad experience attempting to configure with my big Dell).
It looks nice. I've clicked on some icons and like the way it moves. The Internet is not connecting, but from what I've read that's a pretty common thing. Anyway, I now know why its consdered to be such a different sort of montser. The Suse manuals are very vague. I don't relate to any of the file names or extensions...Oh heck, I'm out of my depth! I've checked the net for some Suse forums but they are mostly in German (i think). Unfortunately I'm unilingual. Anyone out there know of any forums or great sites for the Linux beginner. Unlike Windows, that assumes all users are dumb and like being that way, Linux appears to assume we can all hit the ground running. I've hit the ground but need help getting up.
I'm off to buy some books now, LInux for Dummies, Suse for the real idiots of the world, you know that sort of thing. But if any Linux user can remember back to the first days of using this OS, can you suggest anything to get me familiar with it.
Thanks
