I Got a PROLINK FX5900 128MB a week ago...

i have this system:

P4 3 HT
P4P800
2x256 Corsair LLPT PC3200

i am getting only 15.300 3dmarks on 3dmark2001SE using directx 9.0b (when i run the benchmark using directx 8.1 i got 16100 3dmarks)

Battlefield 1942 is very slow... with my old ti4600 i can get more FPS that i am getting now with the fx5900

some maps the performace goes down... like 30-40 fps in BERLIN in 1600x1200 (with my ti4600 i usually get 60-80 fps in the same MAP in 1600x1200)

In medal of honor, the textures and the caracters are all WHITE!! god dammit!!

please, somebody help me...

i am desapointed about this card...

i should have got a 9800 pro 🙁

I know it may sound simple, but have you tried re-installing the card and downloading the very latest drivers from Nvidia's website?

You don't have AA or AF on by accident, do you? Is the card getting enough power (did you plug in a four-pin connector?) and running at full speed (400/850 with the four-pin conxtr, defaults to about 300/300 without)?

Do you have good airflow in your case? Heat does matter, especially with an 80W CPU and an 80W GPU in one tiny case.

its off the AA and AF

i am using an antec truw power 430w power suplly and everthing is conect correctly

every games are running perfect

just battlefield and mohaa that i am having problems (and 3d mark too)

my case dont have a good airflow, the inside temperture is 47Cº

😉 Could be heat but I'd also say simple incompats between FX and older games, something ATI have addressed far better since their DX9 cards have been around a whole lot longer.

🙁 Why yes, yes you should have. 9800 & 9800pro are both superior, more mature and can even be found cheaper than the std FX5900. Still with a little time FX5900 should prove itself and you should get a decent o/c too. ALso rem that gF4TI are not that much inferior to the current crop of DX9 cards (AA+AF and DX9 to one side). The GF4TI4200 easily keeps up with the GF-FX5600ultra v2flipchip so it stands to reason that a GF4TI4600 will keep up with the GF-FX5900 which despite its impressive naming is the next card up in nVidia's DX9 series. Please rem this is with AA+AF and DX9 to one side. GF4TI are still excellent cards capable of 2xAA and a little AF, they'll only really be problematic when true DX9 games come out but that's most likely a good 6 months away.

wow...i wonder how ur BGA rams take it....with the heatspreaders actually acting as insulators..LOL

You should move to a different country where the air is cooler

rollo, have you seen the chicks in Brazil? Moving away from that to play a video game?

You might be better suited with a 9800 if for no other reason than it runs cooler than the 5900. Either way I'd RMA it to make sure its not a card specific issue.

aTi PwN$ j00
I don't even know what "PwN$" means. My point with the air conditioning is that the air inside his case might be cooler if he spent some additional money cooling the room outside his case.
