Last week i had the misfortune of actually sitting on my ti400 :-(

So while its away being fixed I figured I would pick up an 8500LE, then when my card came back I would have a decent backup card. The first card i got home was all messed up. It was detected by the mobo about 75% of the time and i had all kinds of freaky stuf goin on ( it was built by ati card ).

I returned the card last night and was given a mystery card. The new card has dv and tv out, the larger type ram chips (samsung)like a regular 8500. It doesnt say what kind of card at boot and I havent been able to find any sofware out there that will tell me anything more than "Radeon 8500 Series".

I was using power strip to see what the clock speeds on the card were and the sofware shows the clock at 250, memory at 200. Is this right??
btw. its 128 meg card

hrm,.its sapphire, but the website says its 250/250 i think

That would be odd for a Radeon card to run asynchronously like that. Have heard of 190/190 and 230/230 and 250/250 but 250/200 is an odd one. What type of memory rating is on the card? It could easily be 4 or more commonly 3.6 on the 250/250 128meg cards. Try at rage3d and download their Tweak program and see if it says the memory is at 200 or 250. Also what is actually written on the memory chips?
I have a 128 meg LE running at 300/300 overclocked without extra sinks. This speed is very common for a 128meg LE.

Whoa just looked up the Crucial Radeon speed and it uses 6 ns memory speed so it is 250/166. Still hope you can clock yours higher if your memory will allow it.

Saphire is.... ah, not exactly consistent with their 8500LE. In short they have about 4 different varients.
They produce Radeon8500LE boards clocked at 250/275, 250/250, 230/230, and 250/200.
This in addition to their regular R8500 clocked at 275/275.

That would be odd for a Radeon card to run asynchronously like that.

At least for the R200 core it's not at all unusual, even ATi themselves produce Radeon 8500 boards running asynchronously let alone the numerous third party vendors that do.
Specifically ATi's R8500DV is stock at 230/190.
