hi all!

i been running 3dmark2003 and get and overall score of 4200 w/ my radeon 9700 pro, but i only get a 205 cpu score on my xp 1700+ palomino on a ecs k7s5a. that score is near the bottom as all other xp1700s get over 300. i o/c'ed to 1900+ and still only get a 215 for cpu score. wat is the problem?? i just got new 512 mb crucial ddr pc2100 as well.. so thats not the problem.

thanks in advance!

If you're looking to be around the top.. or even the middle.. with any processor that you have, you'd better have water cooling that comes directly out of the Arctic Ocean. The guys on there overclock CPUs to the point of insanity. I overclocked my 2100+ to 3000+ and I'm nowhere to be found on the list.

i understand that, but i still dont understand why my cpu score w/ my 1700+ overclocked to 1900 is still in the bottom 3 or 4 scores for cpus clocked at 1700. the average score was over 320, and hardly anyone had under 300, and here i am sittin at 205. something seems wrong.

maybe those guys unlocked the chips and dropped the multiplier down and jacked the fsb up to 166 to run with pc2700 ddr!!! the higher system bus could account for those score increases...A guy may take a 1700+ or 1.467ghz chip and set multi to 7.5 and jack fsb up to 200fsb and basically have a 1700+ in terms of overall speed...But a 400mhz system bus is quite an advantage over yours...

Uninstall 3Dmark2003. Problem solved.

'Nuff said.

Word! Don't even bother with it! If your system performs well in the "real world" that's all that matters 🙂

Dont worry yourself about it, 3DMark03 makes everything seem lowly. If you want to see some bigger numbers run PCMark2002. 🙂 Besides, 3DMark03 ditched my machine but it still runs wonderfully for my games so I dont care how badly it does on it. Now I might just upgrade my GPU to play BF1942 better... 😉
