Very low 3dmark06 score

Do you experience this low performance in games as well, or just 3DMark?

Is this a new system, one you just built?

Actually your score is not that bad. You've got to realize that people getting over 10,000 are using 8800 GTX's and twice your memory.

its definitely your graphics card. With a gts you could get to 10,000 (another gig wouldn't hurt either). As far as your 7900 i would expect it to have a better score than that... I used to get around 2700 with a pentium 4 and a 6800gs.

Actually thats quite strange. With my rig at stock speeds I wasgetting 6200, twice as much as you are getting. With my 4000+ and 2.8 I got a 7100.

Possibly the RAM?

But you have an 8800GTS, and the OP has a 7900GS. There's a huge difference in those cards.

7900gs is still a pretty decent card should be higher. Background applications can kill your score, also if you are runing like windows blinds that can lower it as well. sometimes it can be something odd like my buddy was getting about 3400 on the 3dmark05 with an x1800xt and we found out it was because of a heating issue. Ive also seen video codecs drop my score a few hundred point before. Also make sure you OC is stable and games run well. I dont think the extra gig of ram will make a diffrence in the 3dmark but real world games will benifit alot from it.

Well I don't really know what to compare to. Graw is running at like 40fps at 1280x1024 average. All on high.

This is one I built myself. Would the amount of memory affect my gpu score? I don't know... And this is running with avast and zonalarm running in the background. Ah, it's oc'd at 660/875, while default is 450/660.

Would safe mode do the trick?

These are my results with rig in sig. All gfx driver optimizations are off, no AA or AF running Vista.

3DMark Score 5221 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 2009 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 1998 Marks
CPU Score 2750 Marks

Detailed Test Results

Graphics Tests
1 - Return to Proxycon 16.266 FPS
2 - Firefly Forest 17.221 FPS

CPU Tests
CPU1 - Red Valley 0.866 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley 1.398 FPS

HDR Tests
1 - Canyon Flight (SM 3.0) 17.262 FPS
2 - Deep Freeze (SM 3.0) 22.694 FPS

Edit: I'm actually only running 1gb of ram. I had a stick go bad, and am awaiting rma

You have a low/mid range video card is why. MY brother scores about 5500 or so with his 7950GT and I score about 9200 with my two 7800GTX 512s.

Just checking... you did install your chipset drivers, right?

Could the fact that the score he is comparing to is also the quad core processor with the 8800 vid card plus 2g of dual channeled ram over the 1g of normal.... i dont think that "comparable" system was the best match it could put you up against.

Why is everyone ignoring the other guy posting his results with a 7900GS and getting 5200? Obviously something is wrong. No one cares what you got with your 7950GT or 8800GTS; it's irrelevant.

that happen to me!!! lol with my 7900GTO all i did was set the bios in my mobo to optimize defaults. see if that helps....

just try it w/ stock cpu speeds. 3dmark can be picky.
