This is not strictly the fault of Win XP, although it does not apply to other Win O.S.'s.
Virtual Drive by Farstone Software (v 6.2) for XP allows you to create virtual cdrom drives so that you don't have to have the cd installed in the drive to play a game, this is particularly useful if you have a gaming network. This works great under Win XP.
I have found Nero 5.5.5.1 cd burning software to work great under XP also (although I have read of many problems, I haven't experienced them).
Install both of these software packages on the same XP machine and viola !!!!! Nero asks for the administrator to grant you rights to use the cdrw drive, even if you are logged on as admin. The cdrw totally disappears in the "choose recorder" menu.
Nero has such great tech. support (no phone #) an the email address they tell you to send your support issues to is "not guaranteed a response".
Anyone else had this problem ?? Anyone know of a fix ??
