This is an interesting lecture, and I know that I am required to by rule to comment on it. I'm really not qualified to discuss any of what she talks about, since I know very little about Mexico.

It really sounds like an example of corrupt capitalism run amok. It makes me understand why the hell people would want to leave.

At 51 minutes, she discusses possible solutions. Maybe it's just because I'm watching the video now, but I'm more inclined to agree with the US giving the Mexican economy a hand. It may save us money in the long run.

Edit: Be careful, she assumes everyone who is watching speaks Spanish. Also, yes, the dude in the orange shirt finally calms down only to pop back up later.

Strictly commenting on your commentary.....

We give the damn Mexican economy a hand already. Where do you think the money that dad earns over here goes? Much of it gets wired straight back into Mexico.

Who buys their oil?

Where do they get their tourism dollars?

They need to help themselves and stem the corruption before they need any more help from us.

Our economy is in the shitter. How much do you want to help them? And at what price to the ~10% unemployed Americans?

Honestly? I don't know the best way to go about it. If I did, I would have had more insightful comments in the OP and/or I might run for office :)P). First, perhaps we should militarize our borders and halt the flow of drugs into the US. Fewer drugs coming in is good for us, and lower demand decreases the power of the drug lords.

I just don't want Mexico imploding, because then we'd have to deal with an even worse neighbor than we have now. No one seems to want to seal the border tight, so something needs to be done.

I prefer written word over lectures as it's a much quicker way of relaying information.

Based on your commentary and what I know of Mexico, of course it is no surprise people want to leave. The place is a sh*thole. It's poor and when it's not poor it's riddled in crime (and still poor, so...hmm, always poor). I don't blame Mexicans at all for wanting to leave that tip. Any sane person would want to.
