VERY incorrect CPU Temp reading

Hey all,

I just finished putting together a new system and it seems the CPU temp is being reported wrong. The BIOS and the uGuru application say the processor is running at a mild 127C. I think one time when I booted it popped up as being well over 200C. Weird. NO Overclocking of any kind here.

using:
Intel Xeon E3110 CPU
Abit IP-35 Pro Motherboard
etc...

I ran Core Temp, and the readings where a much more reasonable/expected 30-40C. Hmm

This is an issue because every time uGuru launches, after a few minutes to shuts down the computer. My internal speaker is constantly beeping because of this error too (unplugged it). It is causing the CPU fan to speed up and slow down every few seconds.

Oh, I also did an old fashioned heatsink touch test and even took off the heatsink and took the CPU out and back in, was cool to the touch right after shutting down the system.

According to the FlashMenu, I have the most recent (release 14) of the BIOS.

Thanks all.

The BIOS and uGuru temp readings on the IP-35 Pro/IP-35E series are all over the place. You could try a different BIOS and get completely different readings.

CoreTemp is better, but seems to read a little high. Someone has put together a temp program specifically for the E84xx series and the temps reported seem to be more reasonable.

Try one of the few beta BIOS for that board. I can't tell ya what to try from experience as I've stuck to 14 since I'm running a Q6600.
