Hey guys,

Check out www.surpasshosting.com They have quite a few features...for $24/year, you get all of the following:

300mb space
4GB Bandwidth
9999 email accounts (at the domain you register, or domain that you already have...)
Script usage (Forums, Chat rooms, guestbooks, mail programs, etc...)

and more... Also, if you refer somebody to them, you get unlimited bandwidth...so, if one of you guys decide to sign up...make sure to refer me! ;) (brassman.org)

Unfortunately, I need 10,000 e-mail accounts, so they won't work for me.

Also, I could surely use one of those "unlimited bandwidth" connections. Any idea who the manufacturer is?

$16/yr domain registration is about double what I pay at Names4ever.com (I even resell the service for $12/yr) <- not a plug... Go direct to Names4ever.com and get a better price than I would give you... :)

It should be common knowledge by now, if it isn't then it's their loss not mine :D

Godaddy.com is the most reliable out of all of them and has registered the most new domain names of any of them.

7.75 for transfers with 1 year extension

8.95/year

I am hosted @ surpasshosting. I'm not sure if they changed or whatnot, but they are also hostdime.

Anyways, some things to note.
You can find mixed reviews on wht using a search string surpasshosting. <- for RossMan

It seems to me that surpass is really just geared for small sites and whatnot. I don't believe that they actually have the capacity to scale up well. Support, I've found is very good as they have phone, email, and IM as means of contacting them. Turnaround time is generally within 20 minutes. One caveat tho is that the support you receive is proportional to how polite you are in asking. Most places I see that put down surpass's support generally start off rather rude...I don't particularly agree with disproportionate levels of support, but it happens.

Uptime isn't the best. I'd say uptime is about 90-93%, but this includes a fairly large outage approximately a month ago(maybe 24 hours or so), which their support was quick to respond to and explain and prolly isn't the norm. DNS resolution seems kind of slow too, but I think that's more to blame on the fact that no one really visits me as my site isn't open to the public and so my ip hasn't really propagated.

Speeds are excellent however for when you wanna use your space as a file drop. Their email services are kind of a mixed bag. It is pretty much flawless if you're content to use pop3...but imap requires a tad bit of tweaking in sylpheed and m2. Also webmail is pretty much rock solid if you don't mind neomail, horde, however, is only useable maybe 90% of the time. I don't really mind since I built my own contact management system anyways.

Also, as far as unlimited bandwidth goes from the original poster, I'm gonna have to call that BS. They make it very clear in their FAQ that unlimited bandwidth is a myth that they won't stand behind. I've also shot them a line and the response is that they aren't aware of it, but they'll get back to me. I imagine after asking Mr Vivar.

I think RossMan can vouch that I'm not a COMPLETE fscking idiot too...partially perhaps, but not complete. Aphex prolly can too.

I'll update as I think of crap.

And isn't Namecheap that you plug, not godaddy?

Does anyone know of a dynamic DNS client that will update your IP address at NameCheap?
