<< taiwan happens to make some of the best electronic components.
saying they are junks...i guess you need some more information.
>>

No, I don't need any more information. You are implying that I meant that everything out of Taiwan was junk, and that was not what was meant. What I was referring to was the question of these CD-R's, that's what this thread is supposed to be about. Someone asked whether these were any good and where they are made. Thus the reason for my answer. And as someone later confirmed, these are indeed Riteks, which are junk compared to Taiyo Yudens.

Shinji is right....90% of CDRs out ther eare made from Taiwan...even Fuji and all other brands...Taiwan monopolized the CDR industry, making the cost low and tons of Taiwanese manufacturers make OEM for SONY

Not sure, but I always thought the cdrs made from taiwan were considered crap.

For example, Imations made in us and japan were considered good to excellant, but the ones made in taiwan were generally crap.
TDKs from taiwan were considered crap, the good ones were either from TDK japan or TY.
Fujifilms used to be made in taiwan and got low ratings. Now they are made by TY and considered good.
TY, kodak gold and Mitsui are are considered excellant and made in Japan.

I may be wrong, but I can remember 1 manufacturer (not brand) of CDr from taiwan that was considered good or excellant. I know Taiwan is responsible for a lot of the electronics in the world (memory, graphics etc etc.) but their track record for CDRs is spotty at best.

Thesen Office Depot ones suck majorly. I bought a 50CD spindle when I got my Plextor 8/4/32 burner.... and they would ONLY run @4X, when they are meant to run up to 12X.... IMHO, STAY AWAY from these

That's funny, these are what I usually buy. With my Iomega 12X10X32 i've had absolutely no trouble burning at 12X

Every couple weeks OD drops the price on their CDR's, when I bought mine, they were $14.99 each, got my self 100 CDR's, still haven't used them all... ;)

<< or you can wait until sunday when the imation 50pk spindle's go on clearance for $19.88 >>

$19.88 for a spindle of 50 is a horrible price unless they're TYs or Kodaks. Even then you can do better, sometimes.

Why wait for the 50pak of imations. OM has them on sale for $14.99, ending TODAY!!! Buy 3 of them at OD and something that cost $5.03 or over, pricematch the 50pk imation 80minutes from OM, use the 15 off 50 coupon. Total for 150 imation 80min and a $5gift for $35 plus tax.
