I went from an E6600 to a Q6600, straight away Vmware is so much faster and Solidworks (CAD) is amazingly smooth

I recommend anyone who's into multitasking to get one while they still can since Im guessing these babies aren't made any more!!!!!

I guess i wouldn't mind getting one, since I'm thinking about getting into some filming and editing HD for fun.

Good deal. I certainly haven't been disappointed with my Q6600's performance @ 3GHz.

It'd take something like Nehalem once to be a compelling price / performance victor and even then
I'd doubt it'd be an economical proposition to replace a good Q6600 with a Nehalem for a mere ~ 50% level performance
boost when the Q6600 is already more than fast enough for most tasks. Maybe if they had 16GB RAM support at
16GB / second bandwidth then that'd be a significant reason to upgrage but I doubt that will happen in the desktop
chipset market for a few more years.

I think if you do editing/sound/video quads are very suited for that. But fast and cheaper 45nm are soon to come. Nathleham is suppose to debut Oct this year. Anyways, if you not in dire need of quads now can wait a bit and see how the new stuff are and give yourself more choices then.

They're great. Sitting at 3.2 while I wait for my rma'd PSU to get here, then probably shooting for 3.4. I can't really ask for any more performance at this point; solid state hard drives seem to be the next actual upgrade.

On average, how well does a P45 chipset mobo OC a Q6600???
Both in terms of FSB and final clocks (in case you drop the multiplier to like 8).

I'm thinking of getting one, seeing as though the Q6600 is the BEST price/performance purchase available!!!
