HORSE The Band - Manateen

They are a pretty underground band, their genre is called "Nintendo Core." They pretty much combine metal, techno, and whiny punk music into one super-genre. A lot of their beginning stuff is just funny, songs like "Cutsman" which talk about the character from megaman with scissors in his head. This song is from their new album, and I think its just awesome. Let me know what you think!

edit: some lyrics are NSFW

Here's another one......HORSE The Band - Cutsman

The song was fine until the guy started screaming. I don't get the "screaming" in today's music. Like they're trying to make it sound like an exorcism.

I'll stick with real singers like Morrissey, not some wanna be goth screamer (of the Good Charlotte kind or some other social misfit band).

"..they get me nowhere,
they bring me down so,
give it a rest, won't you? .."
--Morrissey

Real "goth" music doesn't have or need screaming. Listen to Sisters of Mercy or Clan of Xymox for excellent examples.

Sisters of Mercy? Is that really goth? Just looked them up and sampled a tune on Amazon. Sounds a bit closer 1990s white trash metal, not quite goth.

When I speak of goth, I imagine the Marilyn Manson sort. It's just all screaming and screetching. You cannot even make out one song from another. Same style, different misfit lyrics. The creativity of these social misfits is questionable.

Also, when I spoke of "wanna be goth," I was referring to all the new bands, such as Good Charlotte, who seem to dress "gothic" but aren't quite all the way there. The black hair and clothes, dark rings around the eyes, the death and dying themes. So juvenile and fake.

I recall Sisters of Mercy being the gold standard of the 1980's goth music scene. I'm thinking songs like Temple of Love and Marianne. Also check out an album called "Gift" from Sisterhood.

I do not consider myself an outcast of society, so it's not my cup of tea. But I'll take your word for it that they have more talent than MTV "goth" bands today.
