Its just sad, i think there has been another attack just today. Should be some sort of regulation on dogs that have such a high potential for such dangerous behavior. I know you can mess up most any dog, but a sh1tzu

i'm surprised he's still alive, they couldn't reattach his ears.. from what i've heard the muscle was ripped from his cheeks. neck ripped open, arms etc.

maybe all attackdogs owned by non registered breeders should be castrated Just an idea.

yeah, the Pitbull breed was BANNED in my city because of all the attacks. Pitbulls do not necessarily attack more than other breeds, it's just that when they do, the results are brutal because their jaws create hundreds, sometimes thousands of pounds of pressure. They were originally bred to kill, so it's not surprising. poor kid.

well there was one kid who almost had his arm mauled off, it was barely hanging on.

ok, not THOUSANDS, but quite possibly a thousand. you'd be surprised.
a human's bite can be about 50 pounds, and an average dog (even small ones) can be up to 300 pounds, just for reference.

personally i think this breed should be banned everywhere.

Yeah but you kinda have to take into account how many more cocker spaniels there are than pit bulls (not that i have statistics or anything).

ok i think i already fully addressed this. pitbulls are a special case. bred to be extremely loyal to its family, and brutal killing machine to outsiders. doesn't matter if cockerspaniels bite, they weren't bred to be lethal. its not the dogs fault for being bred as a killer, but does that mean its ok for just anyone to own it?

Maybe that kid deserved it .

one of our nighbors when i was a kid had a couple of dobermans, they made havoc every once in awhile and did attack people, i am suprised they didnt kill anyone.

Was gonna say that they're banned in some places, like where Kami lives. In Atlantic canada today or yesterday (I think PEI?) a kid was viciously attacked by a couple of dogs and the police think the owner is hiding them. GRR.

I love dogs but a dog that does this is less than worthless. It should be put down, no ifs ands or buts.

Shawn was riding a bicycle he had just been given by his mother, Alisa Frost, and his stepfather when the dogs attacked him in nearby Richmond, California. They knocked him off the bike and bit him repeatedly.

Where here was he messing with the dogs? You can't blame the dogs because their instinct plus upbringing made them unable to resist doing this. Nonetheless they should be put down instantly.

I just really appreciate the way the owners take responsibility, too. Not only do they let their dogs run loose and attack people, but actually hide them away afterwards :|

I hope they leave them in jail for a long time, and then clean them out financially after they get out.

Total BS. Pitbulls are bred to fight other dogs..... not people. It is the owners fault that their dog was made to do what it was not bred to be..... a threat to human beings. The worst dogs that I have ever encountered are cocker spaniels &amp; those darn dachshunds. I have a female Doberman who has never once harmed any of my children or any neighbor kids. Yet, some people hate my dog because of their rep. The behaviour of a dog is a direct reflection on the owner's character... not the dog.

This makes me so sick. I can't even imagine how I would react if something like that happened to my child. I guess the blame can be pointed in several directions but the fact of the matter is that this horrible thing happened to this little boy and no one can change it now. :|

I do think that dog owners need to be a lot more responsible though.

Hellish bite of a pitbull makes it one mean fighting machine. If a Chihuahua bites you probably won't end up in the ER. If a pitbull gets a hold of you... you're going to need some medical help.
I once had a pitbull jump into my car through an open window &amp; sit smiling &amp; slobbering in my front seat right in the midst of four little kids who were in the car with me. I didn't know this dog... it got loose from another car at a supermarket &amp; just decided to come say &quot;Hi&quot;. I &amp; the children were never threatened by this dog. It just sat slobbering, panting, &amp; smiling next to me. I reached over &amp; scratched him under the neck.. he was in heaven &amp; we were digging being with this beautiful friendly creature. What a fun memory. The owners came running over apoligizing etc... No problem... I loved that massive dog. He was cool Not all pitbulls are mean. Just those that are not raised with love &amp; respect..... sort of like humans.... don't you think?
