Very disappointed with my Athlon system.

:(

It does not do what others claim it to do. I was expecting to get double duty use from it has a space heater. But alas I may have to actually turn on the heater this winter. My warm is just a tad chilly even with 2 PC running 24/7 crunching seti WU away. I guess I could try overclocking it higher then it already is and hope to raise my room tmep anotherdegree. ;)

Bitch, bitch, bitch :)

Know what you mean. My 1.4 Tbird seems to run at 26/40 C or 78/104 F with a Vantec 6035D and ASII. (80/109f on my 1G Tbird with a lowly CORB)

Maybe we just build em right.

Heh ! Thats funny ! ;)
I was thinking the same t hing when I first built my Athlon 550@600 system. Everyone was saying its going to heat up bla bla bla... in fact... I paid 10 $ for a second fan that has no use except to squeeze 5 watts. :p
I know thunderbirds gets hotter but with good cooling... there is NO problem.
As for Athlon xp... I can't say for now. I'll do when I'll have mine, very soon... heh.. ;)

hey when did Adul get that special title? I just noticed it!

If you want, I can trade you my crappy HSF for yours... I am sure that will warm up your room a couple more degrees... :)

The heat produced will be the same, the better it's dissipated into the room the better the room heating capability.

So his HS will be better.

Nice try though.

Yeah. I've found the 1.4 Tbird to be highly overrated as a heat source. Never gets over 37C under load. I unplugged 2 of my 6 case fans to try warming things up, but no joy. Still running 37C. Gonna unplug 2 more fans this weekend to see what happens, maybe it'll get up to 40C.

This really pi$$es me off. I wasted a lot of money on a great, roomy case with lots of fans, bay coolers and a dual fan power supply.

I should have just pulled the guts out of the old Compaq P166 that's sitting in the closet and modded it for my K7S5A.

Oh well. I'm old enough to know better than to believe anything I read and only half of what I see.

Cool... now that I know it doesn't make that much heat, I'll save on fans for my future AthlonXP machine. Hehehe ! ;)

To get the best heat generations from those Athlon, you need to use the Tyan Tiger MP motherboards and load 2 of your Athlons. Then you'll feel the heat. 3 of these rigs within 3 meters of each other will keep your room temp in the 80 even with AC.:)

you're mocking me aren't ya? :)

fact - my 1.4 TBird runs at 49 - 56 cel. i have a very small room, with minimal air movement. (i got an SK6 on there with a YSTech 8K RPM fan on there, and it still runs hotter than the temps you guys are posting.

when i leave my home, it is between 70-74 deg F. when i get back home, my room is 80-84 deg F. can someone explain to me how can my room rise over 15 deg when nothing is on except the PC.

all of you guys have defective TBirds, return them at once! :)
