$4500 - hell no.

I don't like the way you ride it - it looks/feels unstable.

I think I'd rather have a Segway.

Very expensive, but it'll have its market where this cost is justified.
Look at the videos, it appears very stable and safe.
Segway? Now you're being rediculous.

cost less, goes twice as fast. weighs 15lbs, doesn't need a charge and make you fit.

That is cool, and while physical activity is good, it's not something you want to do before yoiu get to work, then you smell bad. I would prefer something that you still pedal to charge though. That way on the ride back home you could turn off the motor and just pedal + charge at the same time so it would be charged up for the next morning. I would totally ride something like this to work every day, at least in the winter. In the summer it rains too much.

I ride about 80 m/week, but this thing still interests me. Often you can't take a bicycle on a train, definately not a bus. Try riding 5 miles to a meeting and still look presentable.

it's not easy but doable. just for kicks i did one year without a car here in dc. 15 miles each way to work on a cyclocross bike with panniers. took a shower and dressed at work. cant do it now everyday now with a kid, but will all spring/summer/fall. good riding.

That's the problem. I would have rode my bike to work every day for years, but no shower to wash up with. So riding was never an option.

Wow, all the exposure to traffic and the elements that a real bike provides, but none of the exercise. What a coup!!

maybe other country's do need this to "catch up to us". sick of america being stereotyped as the worlds fat asses.

A small percentage of people have the opportunity to shower at work. I'd love to ride to work, but no way I'm gonna work up a sweat getting there.

i haven't always had access either. if you don't ride with a backpack you stay relatively dry. a change of cloths and some deodorant can go a long way.
