Sorry if it's messy...
ugghhh... The Netgear rt314 isn't detecting my DSL modem...
I plugged the modem into the "internet" (WAN) port and the computers into their ports. I used a straight-through cable to connect it. That's how you're supposed to, right? That's what is says in the manual...
The big problem is the indicator light for the "internet" (WAN) port is not lit up. If it's lit up that means it detects something. If not, well, then it doesnt...
Though (like i'm doing now) I can plug the computer and dsl modem into my hub and it works...
Okay, I tried and found out that I can plug the DSL modem into the 4 port switch on the router and the computer will detect it perfectly fine... (I just released the local ip address and registerred a new one over the DSL modem...winipcfg).
The problem isn't the DSL modem, then...
The "internet" (WAN) port just isn't working... or detecting the modem... Is it broken?
I tried everything I could think of for configuration in telnet. MAC address spoofing, setting a static ip as one i registerred, command-line parameters... Nothing works...
The WAN light will blink once on initialization, showing that it is searching for something...
