Very Bad Problems on Brand New System

OverVolt

Lifer
I Just made a 2.4b p4 system on asus board w/ sis chipset on ddr333 80gig wd hd. i installed win XP Pro w/ no problems. then when it booted the 1st time i installed all the drivers for the chipset/audio/hd/lan/ i also installed antivirus. when it booted up the next time it did the power on self test and everyting was ok then the windows xp pro loading screen came up no probs so far, then the screen went black w/ only a mouse in the middle which was stuck. i keept retrying to boot i reseated the graphics card and i made it to the desktop on winxp. then a few seconds later the mouse locked and the system locked up. what do u think the prob could be? do u think it's hardware or software?

Can you get into safe mode? If so, you can check to see what's wrong. You might also want to try a system restore to bring it back to the time that everything worked and go from there, step by step, to see what your problem is. Install one driver at a time. If all those work, then install anti-virus. Hope this helps.

I think i found the source of the problem it's my Generic PSU (power supply) i even tried booting in safe mode and failed but i got into windowsxp once in normal mode and ran asusprobe and found all my voltages were under spec AT IDLE!!! under full cpu load even lower and i can't imagine how low volt goes while booting up (hd,cpu,mb,ram) under full load. even though the psu is generic it's 350w which should be plenty for p4 2.4b but who knows?
