Very BAD Abit Customer Service - No More ABIT for me!

After buying a BRAND NEW out of the box NF7-S 2.0 from ExcaliberPC, AND a Serillel from Newegg, I find that the Serillel that came with the motherboard is DEFECTIVE OUT OF THE BRAND NEW BOX. After filling out the RMA forms and processes, and receiving an RMA number, I send the part in. I get an eMail from DONNA saying to return the serillel to ExcaliberPC and she's mailing it back to me.

Can you believe that? What do you think that plastic part costs them to make $3? Where is the common sense here. They wanted me to take apart my computer and send them the entirely functional motherboard. YET they approved the RMA. Where is the customer service? I'm going on a few trips the next few weeks. Do you know how long it's going to take me to get my RAID-0 drive up and running now? WEEKS for a BRAND NEW motherboard.

Worse, ExcaliberPC directs me to the Abit page. They don't do Abit RMAs.

So I have a BRAND NEW MOTHERBOARD THAT DOES NOT WORK OUT OF THE BOX AND NO ONE WILL HELP ME.

Isn't that frightening? I wonder what the Better Business Bureau in the state of California has to say. There must be a way to contact the state government, as I believe that not only is this BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE but ILLEGAL FRAUD as well due to MISREPRESENTATION of WARRANTY and BAD FAITH on the part of the manufacturer.

Update: After posting this on the Abit forums, they either HID or DELETED my message. Not that that wasn't expected, but the bad customer service experience CONTINUES with nothing positive from ABIT on their DEFECTIVE out of the box product.

You might read-up at the Abit forums or NforcersHQ.com.

There have always been SATA problems. I'm not sure what the resolutions are, since I'm using IDE.

Sending it back will probably result in them sending it back to you.

I'm confused also ... what is it that you want replaced? the MB ot the SATA adapter?

Abit does the MB RMA's. NewEgg will do the SATA adapter RMA.

You might calm down ... and read everything clearly.

The serillel. Abit approved my RMA after I clearly told them what was wrong. I didn't just up and mail it in. Then they said they couldn't RMA accessories. A $3 part and they are giving me the runaround!!

OK ,,,

I'd give either ExcaiberPC a call and tellthem you need an exchange for the Serial adapter.
Or ... since you bought one from NewEgg also .. I'd also ask them (and do a switch).

I know that both are good retailers.

Absolutely agreed regarding Abit Customer Support. I ordered a KT7A over a year ago with a GEForce2 GTS (nice stuff at the time). The board always had problems with the video card and anything more powerful. I eventually had to drop back to buying a GEForce2 MX. I emailed them a few times and they refused to help at all.

It turns out the board couldn't support higher end video cards ( http://www.chewan.freeserve.co.uk/ ), which is another reason I will never buy another ABIT motherboard.

Helps to do research doesnt it...?

Welcome to the forums ... I hope that your future posts will not be slams.

Does anyone think customer service would be better if the product was made in the U.S. ? Do those that live in the country the manufacturer is based in get better service?
