Very annoying XP bit...can't delete newly created folders or files

I have a LAN setup in my home. I am constantly sending things from one computer to the other (where i save files). the problem is that xp doesn't let me delete the files on the computer that i used to transfer the files. and sometimes it will, but it wil never let me delete the damn folders. so i'm left w/ a bunch of empty folders that annoy the hell out of me because it makes it difficult to organize files.

any ideas?
