VERY annoying, new cardboard/crap DVD

Have you noticed how some movies come with this cardboard/cheapo case? Even some fairly new movies.

FOR INSTANCE: I cannot find the first Matrix movie in any stores (ive checked at least 10 different ones) that has a normal plastic case

I understand the $4 movies at walmart, but come on .... swordfish is another one that is solely cardboard that ive noticed.

This prevents me from buying them, as 20% of my purpose of buying a DVD is to have it around for a while in a protective , case, not a piece of cardboard

I feel your pain

Notice that these movies are from Warner Bros. and other Time Warner companies (New Line, etc.) only. They supposedly gave up the cardboard about a year ago, but for only new titles.

All those big clunky cases suck. I used to keep them until they numbered enough to take up two whole drawers. Even the CD jewel cases are a better alternative to the DVD cases. Now I just keep everything in 2 case logics and I pitch the stupid plastic case as soon as I open the DVD.

(Makes things easier to find too.)

1. Matrix was always in the cardboard one (at least I remember it like that...never seen it in a hardshell clam style snap case)

2. I believe only WB movies come in the cardboard crap cases.

3. Yes they suck ass!

4. Just buy blank dvd cases and do your best at making a cover insert.

1. lies... I owned it in plastic hardshell, someone in college borrowed it years ago and i never got it back

2. I will have to check next time im at fries

3. AMEN

4. Not worth it... I pay $5-10 at most for a DVD< not worth the time effort, they suck and i will not reward them by buying them and doing my own mods 😛 I might just go with the 10 CD Matrix Collection

So why do you hate the environment?

Plastic = evil

Cardboard = good

It's a case, that's not what matters, it's the dvd you are paying for.

I thought they would switch to cd like cases to save money by now.

Same, especially after all the game companies started cheaping out and making smaller boxes for games. I miss the days when you got a brand new game inside a huge box. 🙁

Read again..... IT IS WHAT MATTERS to me 🙂

I am paying for both the dvd and the collection aspect of it...

If anything they should use jewel type cases

Then you will have to pay extra.

Those things cost money. 😛

I don't like the flip-disc type of movies either. WS on one side and FF on the other. :thumbsdown: Some movies label it as WS up = WS and others are WS down = WS. MAKE IT A STANDARD OR SOMETHING! :frown:

That's not as bad as flippers where half the movie is on each side so you have to flip in the middle. boooo :frown:
