I just upgraded from gf2 ultra. This card is a beauty (leadtek Ti 4400)! 2d is brilliant as well as 3d! I do notice a significant difference from the previous gf2. but anyways what does Vertical Sync do exactly? I was always told to turn it off back in the voodoo3 days..

OT: I just scored 9853 on 3Dmark2001.. is that a good score?

Vsync limits the maximum fps to your moniter's refresh rate. I always leave it off because there's not much point to using it, doesn't improve performance or image quality.

You want vsync on to illiminate screen and image tearing. Also, vsync gives a more pleasurable gaming experience as your games run like with fluid motion like a movie. In multiplayer mayhems disabling vsync is sometimes a good idea because you're not concerned with image quality as you're too busy trying to kill and avoid being killed.
