Vertical Strip on Samsung LCD TV LA40B530

Hi guys,

I'm from Bangalore, India. Need you help with my Samsung LCD tv.

I have a Samsung LCD tv LA40B530 and since yesterday there is a vertical strip appearing in the middle of the screen(attaching pictures)

The service centre guy just came over and said that it would INR 28,000 to get the entire panel replaced and that is the only option. 28k is really high cause i bought this for 50k 2 years ago.

Is there any other option or getting the panel replaced by Samsung is the only option.

Would really appreciate your response.

28000 INR = 567.54 USD

I would just get a new TV. Screens are in high demand as they are easily broken and typicly sell for almost the cost of a new set.

The service centre guy told me that the entire panel needs to be replaced. I'm completely unaware of how the LCD technology works, but something tells me that something to do with only that dark part needs to be changed. Not trusting the service guys suggestion, i would appreciate if someone with knowledge on LCD technology can provide their inputs.

If you're that skeptical you could try swapping out the circuit boards. They're cheap on ebay. There's really not a whole lot you can do to fix these things. I can also tell you the problem will only get worse. Give it some more time and what will probably happen is the whole right side of screen will quit working after the tv has been on for a little while.

Welcome to expensive disposable electronics.

New TV is probably the way to go. You can probably get a bigger/ better one for that kinda dough.

If that TV has any age on it there are probably some other components ready to go out as soon as you get the screen fixed.
