Local CL seller offering up numerous SSDs, a Vertex 2 128gb for $40, PNY 128gb for $60 (new) and a few Vertex 4 128s for $60. Seller claims they were used for 6 months in laptops and now being sold off.

Since OCZ is now dead and gone, are the 4s worth $50, which is what I'd like to offer ? Or do I lowball at 40, or just ignore entirely since it is an OCZ ?

I'm reading that the 1.5 firmware resolves a lot of issues with the Vertex 4s, and as long as you keep the drive over 50% free space, they perform very well.

No price checks.

Sure its worth it as long as your data isn't very important.

They could be a very fast boot drive for 50 bucks but don't put anything critical on there.

It would be used for a bench rig that I use. I have a KVM that toggles between that and customer PC(s) and I diagnose and download from the bench rig, then KVM back to customer PC and do malware cleanup/hardware replacement as needed.

I currently have a Kingston V300 128gb boot drive in that PC, with 640gb HDD as storage. It receives nightly backups via a WHS v1, so my data is quite secure and redundant. I would then use the Kingston as a spare if the OCZ does fail on me at any point.

Seller will take $40, so looks like an OK deal for what is probably the best SSD OCZ has made (for whatever that's worth).

I have a refurb OCZ Vertex II 100GB and it has been running fine 24/7 in my office mining rig for about 2 months now... I bought it from newegg for about $55 with an extended 2 year replacement plan.

I'd say anything under $50 for any 128GB SSD is definitely worth it!
