Vertex 2 bricked?

OK, so I got a new samsung 830 and installed windows 7 on it. I planned on using my existing vertex 2 240gb as a STEAM games storage, but i'm having issues. My old windows installation and all the files were accesible on the drive after installing the 830, but after trying to format the vertex 2, it hasn't been working since and I can't get a format to work. The drive won't format. I did a secure erase using Ocz software, installed new firmware and got the drive to initialize but it won't format and is stuck on some RAW file system thats unusable. Sometimes its not detected in BIOS after attempting to format, but reappears after a shutdown. WTF?

Use gparted to add a partition table first. I had to do that on my agility 2 after a secure erase.

So I downloaded that thing and I have no idea what the hell kind of file that is. I used that 7zip program to extract it and i still have zero clue as to how to use this program. Do you need a computer science degree to use this partition software?

Eh ? Once you secure erase, you should be able to just format the drive again in windows.
No need for a 3rd party program just to format it again...

edit*
If the vertex 2 has both LEDs go on (red + green) then it is toast.

OK, so I figured out how to boot Gparted from a flash drive, i was confused with all the settings Gparted asked for, but I got it to work and it formatted the drive in like 2 seconds and even let me name the drive! Restarted windows and the drive seems to be working fine! Holy crap! Thanks!

What is so sad is that Ocz tech cupport TOLD ME to do an RMA. They don't know half as much about their own products as the average Anandtech forum member does. So sad. Glad you guys are here.

I think a strong magnet would work on a hard drive, but SSD should be immune to magnetic field. Like your phone or SD memory that uses silicon instead of magnetism to store info.
