"Famous for its fall foliage, quaint towns and covered bridges, the state of Vermont - and its charm - is threatened by a corporate behemoth, a nonprofit preservation group warned on Monday. The alleged culprit: Wal-Mart.

Because of plans for several new Wal-Mart Supercenters across the state, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has placed the entire state of Vermont on its 2004 list of the most endangered historic places in the United States."

SO, what is your feeling on the subject? How well do you know Vermont? Do you live in New England?

Nope, I live in Rochester, NY.

It's hard for me to believe that Wal-Mart could destroy a whole state, but I'm open to persuasion.

You live in Rochester? I'm sorry. :D j/k
Well, I currently live in Maine and lived in Vermont for about 5 years before coming here. It doesn't surprise me that Vermont would put up the healthiest fight againt the juggernaut Wal-Mart, since it's a state of native individualists who despise any central control of ANYthing, and well-meaning transplants who want to leave New Jersey in...New Jersey.
