Droid X/2 both have Moto Blur *shutter* I'd pay more for an Incredible because I love HTC's sense UI. But for the screen size alone the DX should be the highest $$$.

Enough with the Moto Blur bashing nonsense. The myth has been perpetuated long enough. You've probably never owned either device. Moto Blur on the X and 2 is nothing more than an optional set of widgets and a small number of icons that have a different appearance. People need to read that sentence several times. The Droid X and Droid 2 are as close to vanilla Android as you can possibly get without going for a Droid 1 or Nexus One.

Whether you like it or not... it's still Blur.

Also, it goes deeper than "an optional set of widgets and a small number of icons that have a different appearance". Not that it bothers me all that much (I downloaded LauncherPro the moment my Droid X first booted up in the store) but still there's more to it than icons & widgets.

I will say though I like it more than I did with Sense on the Incredible I had.

Edit: Also http://www.gazelle.com/ seems to be a better trade-in option than VZW's site IMO.

I own a D1, GF owns a D2, I don't like vanilla Android, and I hate Moto's widgets, you don't have to use them but they're there, and it's very hard to find decent replacements for most of them. Sense's widgets about about 3 times better than Moto's offering. Vanilla Droid is a meeh experience.

I used a DroidX and its slow as crap while the EVO is much smoother. That motoblur must be doing something.

Its all about Sense UI, their widgets are actually good.

Not sure what the status of Birdman's FlyX build for the X is. I believe its not an AOSP build. Obsidian looks to be the first AOSP build for the Droid X though, which won't have the Blur nonsense on it at all.

dguy6789, the fact that Moto has claimed they aren't focusing on further development of Blur should be reason enough to dislike it. You think the Droid X and Droid 2 are going to get many OS upgrades? Doubtful.

Vanilla Android is much better than pretty much every skin that's been developed. Sense is decent, but HTC has had extra years to develop it. Moto and Samsung were late to the party and should never have wasted their internal resources developing Blur and Touchwiz.

I think the problem with an AOSP build with the X is that the hardware has some things specific to it that an AOSP build does not have natively. For example the three mics (which are awesome BTW). That is something that Motorola has to program for so I don't think there will ever be a true AOSP rom for the X.

Also the auto-stitch panoramic feature is something that is not in AOSP and will have to be included. Who knows what dependencies it has with other blur stuff to have this in.

im pretty sure the percent of people who resell their phones when they upgrade is less then 1%, so instead of throwing away or putting the old phone in a drawer and forgetting about it forever they get some money back from VZ. Yes they could get more money on ebay or whatever but those people simply don't care. and they are the vast majority

im actually 1 of them. ive never sold a phone after ive upgraded. every one of them still works and is sitting in a box in storage
