unlimited 3g should be $10 a month, tether all you want. its the new dial up internet. come on, industry. get your heads out of your asses that are full of money.

i like sprints 3g, it works good in my area. and if you dont need roaming, you can get boost prepaid internet for $10.65 a month and its not hard to tether off it if you have the right phone.

I think this one will work itself out... with the higher data speeds people will be blowing past the tiers in no time. Which will cause cost of data services to skyrocket... which will provide a nice opportunity for a carrier to pickup customers by making the tiers cheaper... or even doing unlimited again. Which will then force the big carriers to adjust as well...

btw, it would be cool if some website put up like a 500gb file on a good server so that everyone with tiered plans can download it all night every night, until the data caps come off.

Well time to get the Thunderbolt or Charge. Meh. I like my current plan that has unlimited everything on all my lines with 700 minutes for $160 (which is still kind of high). The bright side is that I get $90/mo from 2 of the lines so it is pretty cheap for me. Even so, pretty shitty IMO.

I'll have to talk to my friend that works at VZW, not that he will know much more than I do.

I wonder if part of the reason Verizon is doing this is to make the market look less competitive to kill the ATT/Tmobile merger. That would be pretty creative.

Ah, glad I got on unlimited 4G last month from VZW. With the discounts from my employer, $25/mo for 12-15mbps down is a good deal.

I was kinda hoping for a low limit, cheaper option. In the two years my dad's had a smart phone I don't think he's used 2GB, I may have used 5. It would be nice not to be forced into buying bandwidth we'll never use. A dumb phone would be an option if the ones Verzion carry weren't all complete crap.

I'm glad to be on Sprint and going to stick with them. Sure their 4G speeds are not as fast as Verizon and their 4G coverage is spotty but I pay less and get real unlimited. 2GB us not even close to enough for me.

I'll give you $20 if a NEW post pay national carrier ever comes around and offers better value. It isn't going to happen. Keep this thread bookmarked cause I will... but it will never happen. The only new things we will see is more prepaid carriers like Boost, Virgin etc because consumers are getting sick of the national carriers bullshit.

Yep, I'll be jumping to Virgin if the Triumph isn't completely screwed up...

Can you elaborate on this? Are you saying that you can get tethered 3G internet access for $10.65/month?

I don't see this plan on their site . . . and the Triumph still isn't on their site. Optimus V is still their highest end phone sold.

id gladly leave them if there was another option

AT&T is just as bad as VZ

Sprint and T:Mo - coverage where i live is basically non existant

regional carries - cant get the data

Pretty much this.

I don't see Sprint and TMo (rather ATT in a year or so) being true alternatives. Regionals are worse than those. AT&T/VZW are the only options that would work for my needs.

+1. I'm going to do the same. VZWs pricing is just insane, and after my iPhone, I don't care for AT&T any longer. Tmo is a non-started until this merger thing gets ironed out

I recently left Sprint due to lack of coverage at my work, although I get excellent coverage at my house. I couldn't get a call inside my building without it dropping or breaking up. I tried out ATT and get excellent coverage at my work and good coverage at my house. The premium for switching is less than $10 a month after my work discount.

Sprint data I used about 250mb on average month, mixed with work WiFi and Home WiFi. So far with ATT i've been using 118mb with the same WiFi and have a day left until new usage starts. After tomorrow I'm going to turn off WiFi and do a straight month just to see what I actually use. I don't really stream music or video with this phone so I doubt i'll even hit the 1GB mark.

I think if they are going to tier data plans, they might as well squash SMS plans and just include it with the Data. Paying ~$20 a month to unlimited text is a joke.

I get great Sprint coverage except one spot...my office lol. Everywhere else in the building is great! So I use roam control to force roaming to verizon when I am in my office.
