Verizon's Mobile Web 2.0 (Get It Now) questions

Anyone know if I sign up for this Mobile Web 2.0 that Verizon offers for $5 per month, does it allow me access to my Gmail account using it and not incur additional fee's? or can I only access specific sites using their Mobile Web?

I can't find a clear answer on their site.

Check out Howard Forums - there are ways to manually setup a WAP proxy so you can use the MobileWeb for free. It depends on what phone you have how easy it is. For my VX6100, it's right in the hidden phone menu and very easy to change.

You can also run software on your own computer to act as a WAP proxy. This is the best/safest route. I wouldn't trust a third-party WAP proxy with my Gmail login.

It's also not totally "free" - it uses minutes out of your plan.

gmail has a phone-specific page - I think it's m.gmail.com, i used to use it on my sprint phone. haven't bothered on my vzw phone, but if you bring up the browser, then hit the menu key (not your main menu, the "softkey") you should be able to choose to enter a URL

Yes you can access Gmail and other sites as long as they have a WAP page, just pay the $5 it's worth it

I agree. Beware though, it uses airtime.

DOes not use airtime if you pay the $5 a month

Really? I could have sworn it did... Anyway, though....I think Mobile Web 2.0 is clunky. =(
