Verizon Wireless customers - anyone else getting txt messeges from Triviarules.com?

I'm sitting here at work and my phone's TXT messege indicator goes off, I checked it and it's a messege that claims to be from VZW.

I am immediatly suspicious, because VZW has only sent me a text messege once before, that was a day after I got my phone.

It says to send a messege to some number to answer triva questions for a chance at $10,000 in prizes. Three's a website with rules (http://www.textrules.com/vzw2), but all that's there is a big Flash thing (flash can't be installed on my work computer), and links to a copyright notice and privacy policy. Both links popup windows that send you to the appropriate thing on verizon's website.

I did a Whois lookup on the site, and it was registered last May to some guy in Chicago, with a hotmail email address.

I'd call customer service and ask, but I only have enough service here in the building that text/VM notices get through - can't make any outgoing calls. I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone else got it before I got too worried.

Strange, my wife got a text msg from Verizon offering 100 extra minutes if we renewed our 2 year contract - I figured it was genuine since our contract should be running out around this time. This is the first time we are getting any text message, leave alone from Verizon. When I get home I'll have to check the 800 number the msg contained to see if it matches up with what's on Verizon's website.

I'm not really worried about the 2 cents. It doesn't even bother me if it was Verizon sending the messege. On the face of it, it looks like it isn't, the Trivarules.com site isn't owned by Verizon, the main page is just blank. If it's someone spoofing genunine text messeges from Verizon, I'm sure they'd like to know about it, there was a similar situation with Sprint customers about a year ago. Someone text-spammed to all their customers, I believe Sprint found out who it was and sued them.

I had a weird one about 2 weeks ago, but it has since been erased. Wish I had saved it now. It's possible that someone could be spoofing them. I'd give them a call just for the hell of it. They shouldn't be sending text messages, which cost the receiver money. It's equivalent to telemarketers calling your cell, which there are laws against, because the incoming call is not free. Neither are text messages.
