Verizon wireless account question

So I'm finally getting rid of my prepaid phones and getting an adult montly plan now... I'm fairly certain my credit wouldn't allow me to get cell service or that I would need to put down a hefty deposit in order for them to give me cell service. So what I did was put in my dad's info for the credit check when I ordered from amazon. My dad's credit is of course much better than mine or at least he has a much longer credit history than me because I only turned 18 about 6 months ago.

Anyway, down to the question. Once I get the phone and everything is a go, can I go change him from being the account holder to me being the account holder so that I will maybe build up some credit for paying my bills on time? Any fees for doing this? Thanks!

If you do a change of responsibility they will do a credit check on you (just as they would have if you had ordered on your own info in the first place).

Cell phones don't exactly require stellar credit, you might be fine (especially with a history of pre-paid service, I know T-Mobile does take that into account when converting from pre-paid to post-paid).

Worst case you pay a deposit, typically refundable after a few months (maybe a year).

I highly doubt it. I would email verizon and ask them for sure though. Why don't you at least try to qualify to see what it says?

I haven't contacted them about it since it seems like I'm bascially trying to cheat their credit check system... So I don't think the CSR would be all that helpful in this case...
