1. Complimentary Store: It will not replace your Android market and will be complimentary to the other stores out there.
2. App Selection: The store will launch with a few hundred apps, many of which are already available on the Android market. There is nothing preventing developers from listing their apps in both the VCAST app store and the stock Android market.
3. Purchasing Apps: The highlight of the VCAST store is the billing feature. Rather than using your Google Checkout or Paypal account to buy apps, you can add the charges straight to your Verizon bill.
4. Refunds: There will not be a 24-hour refund policy with the VCAST app store. You buy it and it’s yours.
5. Other Devices: Other than the Incredible, the VCAST store is expected to be available to the Droid 1/2, Droid X, and Fascinate in the near future. It will come pre-installed on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Other than the option to bill to your Verizon bill, its completely worthless. Being uninstallable bloat aside, that #4 should be a deathblow. Why would I buy an app on the VCAST Store when I can buy the same app on the Android Market and return it for a full refund if it doesn't meet my needs?

Sadly, looks like Verizon returned to their old ways pretty quickly. They hit the ball out of the park with the Droid 1, but since then they're like the retarded kid who keeps keeping the ball while trying to pick it up.

Time to drop Verizon for a G2, myTouch 4G, or an Evo?

pretty sure root users will be able to remove it

Oh, for certain, no question there.

Reaching a tipping point for me though. If I was buying a Verizon car right now, It feels like I'd buy the car for 30K, but it'd have Verizon branding on the seats, dash, steering column, Verizon decals on the windows, etc. And it'd include governors on the engine to ensure you only drive at approved speeds, with the GPS making sure you only bought your gas from Verizon branded gas stations. So, you get the car home, and strip it bare, remove all the fabric and windows, and rebuild it from the chassis up. Only now, they weld the hood and trunk shut. Nobody should have to go through that.

Really irritating me because I want to replace my aging Droid 1 and Verizon has offered NOTHING better to replace it.

I would imagine the Nexus 2 is real, but I doubt it comes to VZW.

To stay on topic,
NOBODY WANTS YOUR STUPID FUCKING APP STORE VERIZON.

Welcome to last year. :awe:

No seriously, the Droid was the only phone from Verizon and Motorola to not have any of Verizons or Motorolas bullshit on it. And I think I may reactivate it today or tomorrow for that reason alone.
Anything I buy from this point on will be loaded with somebodies crap.

Tmo is pretty good about that. The G2 is naked and the Vibrant really isn't bad stock. All the things that are installed can be deactivated without rooting.

But with Verizon you may have to root to get rid of their junkware. I have zero interest in finding out.

I want the N2 to be real. I really really do. T-Mobile has HSPA+ service in Phoenix, apparently, if the G2 or myTouch 4G had permanent root, I'd pick one up right now. I know there's going to be a CM spin for the G2 once they've got permanent root.

Now even Sprint is putting crap on their Android phones even beyond the stupid little apps.

On the LG Optimus S, they're putting this crap called Sprint ID on it. Some overlay for putting skins on Android.

ah heck. If I can't buy a decent, open, vanilla android phone, I'm going to pick up the cheapest paygo phone with a qwerty keyboard.
