My friend has a Droid X, and wants to keep his unlimited data. If he were to BYOD and upgrade to a 4G phone, would the adding of the 4G sim constitute a "change" and ruin his plan?

I guess I wonder the same thing about my wife's iPhone 4S. Will she be able to keep unlimited data when she upgrades. (With BYOD)

No it should not, going from 3G to 4G you should still have unlimited data.

If he's paranoid about it, just do it in store with a CSR and they can confirm the unlimited data being kept.

No as long as you buy a phone on your phone or off contract from Verizon you will maintain the unlimited data. My bro went from Droid Incredible to LG Lucid. You can go for a Galaxy Nexus as it's pretty cheap nowadays

he will keep unlimited. Verizon store will provide the sim card for free. I took over a company 3G phone and replaced it with a 4G LTE phone and continue to enjoy unlimited data.

As long as you don't buy the device from Verizon with their "contract" price and BYOD or buy it outright you will keep your unlimited.

I did this with my iPhone, went from a 4S to a 5. Brought it to a store & they put in a free SIM card and been sucking up unlimited LTE ever since!

Hold on to it while you can I say! lol

That's the plan. I have a gnex, and I still love it. By far the longest I've gone without serious phone envy. I'd still love to have a Note sized screen. but that's just nitpicking...

Went from a 4S to a 5 as well and kept unlimited. As long as you don't upgrade you'll keep the unlimited.

It might depend on your area, but Verizon 3G over here is good enough to stream Netflix.

I'm on ATT 4G LTE right now and I'm missing my unlimited Verizon. :(
