Verizon upgrade plan and new phone advice needed

I've heard that the new phone every two years only applies to the primary number on a family plan but then some people say it doesn't. Just curious about experiences doing this.

I have no idea which phone I'd upgrade to. I want something simple with good reception and battery life. I need no frills. Any recommendations?

Well, if you log in to your online account, there should be a counter or meter that shows how close you are to being able to upgrade. I'd assume that, if you logged in and the meter is full, then you can upgrade your phone.

Though, if you're on your parent's family plan, it probably wouldn't be cool to just go and upgrade your phone without some input from whoever is paying the bill. I have no experience with family plans though.

If I were going to sign a 2 year contract, I would make sure and get the most expensive "free" phone I could. Don't waste your $100 credit on a $50 phone.

Well it turned out we were able to do both phones because they had buy one get one free. We got two LG 8300's.
