Now that ATT has put GB fiber in my neighborhood, I'm thinking of getting rid of my Verizon unlimited plan and going with project fi. Previously, my phone was the only decent internet I could get at the house. With the unlimited data, tethering charges and regular phone fees, the bill is 140.00. Looks like I could save a decent amount since the GB plan is 70.00/mo and a typical fi bill would be 30.00. A friend has it and says he has not had any issues at all. Anyone using it have any advice? Can you still sell the unlimited plans or has Verizon killed that?

I don't know if it would even be worth it. I mean you are starting to get into the 10-15GB range in pricing on the plan, only people actively trying to use as much data as possible are going to hit it.

As a Unlimited to Fi user myself (I just let my plan lapse). I found it really easy and really cheap. Originally decided 4GB to test the waters but outside one month in a year and a half I have been paying $25-$28. I don't know if it was because of me trying to use the data I was paying too much for or Verizon and how they collect or possibly cause the phones to communicate that caused data to sky rocket but I have barely changed my browsing style and when I use it that much and went from 3GB regularly to .5GB. Also the whole auto Connecting to Google registered or open networks and VPNing a connection to google has kept me from using cell data on several occasions.

I live near the Canadian border in an area with normally terrible cell reception. Google Fi + Pixel is an entirely different experience than any other phone I've used here. It... just works.

I think Verizon uses some creative accounting to come up with the data usage... I typically use 40Gb per month but my phone is the internet connection at home right now. Still, it seems extreme for the small amount of time I'm using it and being the only user...
Don't know how I will like Android. I've been using Windows Phone since WP7 and really like it. Currently using a Nokia Icon which has an awesome camera that I don't think the Nexus phones can match.

Not sure about Verizon, but as for Windows Phone, I still love the OS itself. However, the ecosystem leaves much to be desired. I went back and forth since the Lumia 920, but seeing as how Microsoft also doesn't support their platform as much as they do others (Android, iOS), understandably since WP/WM has a much less market share, I decided to move to Android completely. The main thing I notice about Android is the flexibility to do things, like maintaining SSH Tunnels, ability to gain root, etc. But I feel in WP; you spend less time using the phone because the information you need tends to be at a glance, while in Android you need to dig.

Of course, you can customize it to be more at a glance, and you can even configure it to be more like Windows Phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lx.launcher8&hl=en

Wow, that is cool... 10-50,000,000 downloads and 4.4 rating, so I guess a lot of android people really want WP.
