Verizon sucks.

So, I just got a call from Verizon.

it was an automated call. They had a machine call me up, and say "We need to talk to you about your account, please hold on the line for a representative".

It kept telling me "a representative will be on the line within 30 seconds, please hold on"

After 30 seconds or so, it said "I'm sorry, a representative is not available right now, we will call you back later, or you can call us at (800) XXX-XXXX"

Then it hung up.

I don't have an account with Verizon. I cancelled an acoount months ago.

Actually, that's a brilliant business plan!

Call up all of your customers during their peak-usage hours, tell them you have urgent news about their account, and then put them on hold for minutes.

Even better-- wait for the customer to go over their monthly allocation of minutes and then call and place them on hold every day.

You could make an ungodly amount of money in overage charges alone...

To the system you still do. 😉

Happens here all the time. Folks' embarkation cards don't scan upon check in on immigration inspection (oh dear we have one tomorrow at 0700 AST :Q). Anyways, they will sign and get a paper and return to their cabins before leaving only to have their phone ring and be pestered because they were AWOL for inspection. The system double checks but this is something that has to get fixed.

Calls to the company don't cost minutes.

You've obviously never had a cell phone. If you did, you've never paid attention to the bill.
