Verizon Service Question

Yes, I can ask Verizon but I'll probably get an answer here before I can get through their que.
I have an account with 2 lines. We only use one as the kid got his own service. Can I buy a phone from ebay and use our second line?

what happens if there is a balance? besides the fact that you lost whatever you paid for the phone, i mean.

Then they won't activate it until the balance is paid. Another situation would be a reported lost/stolen ESN and then you're really up shit creek if you bought on eBay without checking first.

Any reputable seller will have no problem letting you run the ESN before buying.
