no chit. glad to see Verizon getting slammed for this. If I accidentally pushed the web button on my phone I ended up with a data charge. finally they offered to totally disable it after I called a couple of times.

I got swindled like $15 when I switched from my Alltel phone to a Verizon one because of this issue.

If it's any consolation I used about 3 gigs of data last month. I'm unlimited and even if they change to a tiered system my contract doesn't change until it expires. I'm getting my money's worth.

And people complain about AT&T, waiting or the day Verizon carried the iPhone.

There may be different reasons (poor coverage, poor service, crappy plans and pricing and/or overcharging), but the bottom line is that ALL mobile phone companies suck.

That's why I go with the PHONE I like and just deal with the service issues of the carrier.

Word. Find the phone, root it, install all free fully-functional apps, enjoy. Even then you're going to get raped by ridiculous plan rates, but *shrug*.

I'm going to be rich!

"Verizon said in its statement that the customers would receive credits from $2 to $6 on their October or November bills"

On my old phone I accidentally launched the browser at least once a month. I always hit End as soon as I saw the Openwave thing or whatever it was called on the screen, which stayed up there plenty long for any normal person to see it and hit end, and I NEVER got a phantom data charge.
