I got an automated call from what was supposedly a verizon offer. I could add 100 minutes a month if I renewed my contract for 2 yrs (not sure if that was two more years on what i have, or two years from the day i call).

They also gave me an 800 number to call later. But after I thought about it, it seemed possible it could be a scam... I don't have the number on me to google and see, but was curious if anyone else got these calls?

It may not be a scam, but it looks like pricing is going to get a lot more competitive, very soon. Hold out for a bit, and watch for the pricing to change, and then just change your plan to a higher minute plan for the same or similar price. Never resign a contract in the middle of your contract.

if you get such a call again from an actual representative, get the name of the individual, his/her department, and don't give out any personal identifying information. if they called you, they should know instead of asking you to "confirm" it.

automated calls would creep me out. i wouldn't respond to them. but if i were curious, maybe i'd call and speak to someone to inquire about its legitimacy.

Minutes are cheap. Make sure you get a new phone out of the deal if you're going to sign up for another two years. If your current phone goes bad and you're still under contract, you're totally screwed. Buying cell phones at retail SUCKS.
