verizon motorola v710, IBM t41p, bluetooth modem issues

Just got a new v710, nice phone.

Finally have a s--ts and giggles use for the bluetooth module on my t41p, been trying to get it hooked up and working, but it doesn't seem to stay connected. I can find the phone, enter the passkey, etc, and the thing shows up in "bluetooth devices", but never says "connected" no matter what I try. well, if I open it's properties page, and select, dial up networking, it says "access denied", and after I close that window, it flashes "connected" twice, very quickly. I haven't even gotten to the point of trying to dial in.

any ideas? I've been searching for guides, and all I find are the one mac guide and a bunch of "my v710 works great with my laptop" posts.
