looks like it was more widespread than it was thought.

I don't see how this will be good for VZW

wow necro. Did I miss some new news? Did a google search lead you here? :p

I like to go back in the way-back machine sometimes. This is pretty relevant since Verizon seems intent on loading their Android phones with Bing now.

I thought non-"droid" branded phones (even android) were affected. Didn't they reverse it on the vzw Galaxy S version?

It's pretty freakin' stupid.

There was a future update announced that would reverse it...not sure if it ever happened. But they did announce a few new Bing powered Android phones that will be hitting later this year.

This will be good for Verizon because 1. MS is probably paying them a shitload of money to do this. And 2. the average joe (most VZW customers) won't care. Sure they'll piss off the uber geeks and a few select others. But when 95% won't care and Verizon will be getting paid truckloads of cash it seems like a win/win for them if you ask me. My mom uses Google because I set it as her home page, if I went to her laptop and changed it to Bing she would call me and ask "where's Google?" I'd say "I changed it" She would bitch about it for 3 days while she adjusted to something new and in a week wouldn't think about Google again.

Galaxy S update never happened. I have one. Honestly, it really doesn't matter to me since I'll open Opera and do what I need to do.

If only that deal meant lower bills :p

I have a client returning a Samsung Fascinate this week for precisely this reason. Do you have a link by any chance to VZW saying they will reverse or relax the search locking to Bing?

Thanks!
