We had a quick Twitter conversation yesterday with a Verizon LTE engineer (@black_man_x) who through a “sneaky panda tweet”, basically mentioned that the Incredible HD is on the way and it will be an LTE device. Here is exactly what he mentioned…

Just saw something so incredible that it was almost HD… and LiTE as a feather…

Can you translate that? Incredible HD running on LTE. We expressed our feelings to him and received this response back…

@droid_life bgr posted a pic of the old hardware months ago.. its been refined a bit. Sure u all will get a leak. Love the site btw

He’s referring to the picture above which is a mirror image of the Desire HD, so we’re hoping the refinements mean it will look similar to the original Incredible as it will always be one of the sexiest devices we’ve owned.

While there aren’t any official pictures in the wild yet, expect them to find their way to the forefront soon.

Excited?

Excited? So long as these 'refinements' aren't a VCAST App Store, Bing Search, Maps, etc, maybe a little.

Very cool but LTE literally is no where for Verizon. Most people won't even be able to use LTE until the end of next year but any LTE is better then no LTE.

T-Mobile's HSPA+ is live in Phoenix, where I live. Phoenix is also one of the NFL cities where Verizon is supposed to begin their deployment of LTE, for what thats worth.

I ran some speed tests on a MT4G and G2 at the local T-Mobile store, got about 6.4Mb down and about 500kb up. Significantly better than my Verizon 3G, which gets about 1Mb down and 30kb up under the best of conditions.

I was excited when I first heard about the Inc HD, but now I'm not all that impressed.

Here's what I'm hoping is included:

Gingerbread, or at least be only a few months out, like the Droid was to 2.1. A screen res higher than 480x800. A processor based on something other than a Snapdragon (a decent GPU please). And the new Sense that the Desire HD and Z get. Better battery life. I don't use my Inc all that much, so I roughly judge my usage based on the time the screen is on. It's pretty shitty.

I think I'm asking too much, because I bet it will be a Desire HD with a CDMA radio, yawn.

Thats what the Inc HD will likely be. But HTC traditionally uses the Qualcomm SoCs. My understanding is the Adreno 205 is quite a big step up from the anemic Adreno 200 in the older Snapdragons.
