There's always a fanboy... for everything.

I've owned every iPhone with the exception of the 4. After the 3GS came out I had a brief stint with Blackberry before then I went to Android. I love the "openness" of Android and the ability to customize virtually everything but Apple is pretty damn good at making the user experience very smooth. It's funny that I can do all this stuff on my Droid X but I still find myself wanting an iPhone every now and then. It's nice that I can finally have one without going back to AT&T though. :D

I"m really considering getting the iPhone 4. I love my Incredible, but after getting a new iPod touch, the user experience is so much smoother and (imo) the app selection and quality is so much better. I love customizing my android phone in every way, but after the initial toying around with it I haven't really done any customizing since.

And this is why you'll see Android users on Verizon switching to iPhone.

I think it's great. I'm more than happy with Android but for my friends who love their iPhones I hope they switch over so I can save on some Anytime minutes/texts.

wow... so many people on the android camp is just defending their phone, while the apple people are pushing forward.... It's actually quite entertaining to watch them duke it out!

sorry, I'm seeing this on engadget.com

Nah, we're just laughing at all the people that are going to run out and buy a year old phone on a two year contract, when they already know far superior devices are coming in a few short months.

my dillema is that i already own a 32gb iPod Touch, and with the new iPhone ... do i keep or sell it?

i'll probably keep it because I use it daily on the way to work, and it won't waste battery on the iphone.

I gotta say that im very disappointed that Verizons iPhone wont be LTE. To me, its almost like a step backward. That being said, I know its going to sell like hotcakes to the general public. Many who dont really care about speeds/latency and more about just having the phone.

there are also 'far superior gaming devices' aside from the ps3, wii, and xbox360 ... but look at how 'great' pc gaming is doing.

still pretty incredible that a lot of people on this forum dont understand that the mass population don't give 2 shits about 90% of the 'features' on these new smartphones coming out.

I'd say keep it for that very reason. I listen to music on my touch on my commute (2 hrs each way) and also the entire 8 hour work day. No way I want my phone carrying double duty for that long.

Does all of the apps that have been purchased on the iPod touch transfer over to an iPhone? I bought a ton of EA games when they were on sale for .99.

Unless you're referring to the iPhone 5, I'm not sure what device you're talking about. You must be referring to hardware specs (blah blah blah)

It's official. No LTE on the Verizon iPhone 4. Still has the CDMA limitation (one advantage of GSM) of no data and talking at the same time. And is the wifi hotspot feature a "value add" feature like AT&T's or included as default?

Incidently I wonder how long it'll take to jailbreak/unlock it for those who want to remain with Sprint.

Doesn't work that way.
You activate a CDMA phone with the ESN/MEID number.
If an ESN iss not recognize in their system, it will not activate.
Which lies the beauty of the GSM network. Just switch sim cards.

so many people keep saying the iOS is limited. I couldn't agree more. No customizations, no true multi-tasking, and features are only a handful compared to what Android has.

BUT.

I don't care about customizations or widgets. I just wanted my phone in a particular way, and I've NEVER touched it again. No true multi-tasking is a drawback, but then again, Android's multitasking sucks too. I actually prefer iOS's 'fake' multitasking as opposed to Android's "hold the home button down for a second or two".

And the features? iOS has all the features I need. But most importantly, it's not laggy like my EVO is. I've played with several different Android devices @ CES, and it's always the same: Laggy. Even the new motorola xoom honeycomb tablet.

Oh well, I guess the only awesome OS is WebOS. too bad it's still not as smooth as iOS or WP7 :(

now iPhone is on VZW, is it gonna have the antenna gate problem?

Sure, you can transfer through itunes or you can sign in with that same account and when you install it again, it will say that you've purchased it already and would you like to DL again for free.

How is iOS multitasking fake? It's a better implementation on a mobile device. You don't want the same multitasking on your phone that you have on your computer.

It's like when they released the first iPhone. It was EDGE only, but that was because it was tried and true and reached the most people. Apple usually isn't on a bleeding edge for networks.

using the WebOS device for almost a year, I have to say, yes I DO want the same multitasking capability as my computer. I need to switch quickly between apps, back and forth! No one has done this as intuitive as WebOS... maybe Blackberry's playbook as well...

In 2007? 3G was old news in 2007 (unless you were on T-Mobile). The curious lack of 3G was one of the biggest problems with the first iPhone.

WebOS is more like iOS than Android. Android has the apps still running in the background while WebOS and iOS have them saved in RAM. Yes the interface for WebOS is intuitive.

Should we laugh at all the people buying "dumb" phones too? How about all of those people still buying low end Android phones which are essentially last year's models and weaker than an iPhone 4 when there are better Android devices out now, much less later?

There will always be something better around the corner. Some people don't need, want, or can afford the step up to a more powerful device.

I was expecting the first Verizon iPhone to have no LTE. It just doesn't make sense. The LTE network is just getting started and there is not enough market penetration yet to make it worth Apple's time to create and market it at this point in time. The iPhone 5 will likely be a dual CDMA/GSM phone with LTE capabilities but I wouldn't count on the LTE capabilites. It all depends on how fast AT&T and Verizon is expected to get their LTE networks up.

Doesn't work that way.

Well that sucks. I know that you'd have to give your ESN/MEID to the carrier, due to the phone having no SIM, to activate it. I just thought that there would be no hassles in getting this done. Just enter it in the carrier's systems and it's activated so to speak.

You can just connect your iPhone to the computer you have iTunes installed and activated. It'll have a few prompts to set up the device (very easy) and then it'll sync all the apps you have purchased to your iPhone. You can sync multiple iOS devices to it and it'll install all of your purchased apps on them.

Plus they are the GSM carrier in the US so they are the one that is going to be carrying the global iPhone.

I'd be willing to guess that there will eventually be a global iPhone released by Apple that can handle both GSM & CDMA/LTE networks in a single hardware configuration.

With the iPhone 4 on Verizon will the "tethering" feature be included with the data plan or will it cost extra?
