Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2 test/leak

I put 4.2.2 on my Nexus 7. I was not a fan at all. I really don't like the newer drop down menu. I went back to 4.1.2. Seems to me to be a better user experience. But that is just my opinion.

I'm not a fan of 4.2.2 either as far as the drop down menu

I'm running 4.1.2 on my Note II.

Why do you think this will be the last update for the Galaxy Nexus? I do not believe it will be.

The Nexus S received updates all the way to 4.1.2 and is over a year older, and would have received 4.2.2 if it had more than 512MB of ram. Do you have a link?

The Nexus S was mostly a GSM device, and the GSM Galaxy Nexii will likely get KLP. But the Verizon GNex won't, as Verizon no longer sells it.

I'm using an international Nexus, and it is still on 4.1.1 - that was the last update pushed OTA. I use the stock interface, with no rooting etc. Is there a way to update my phone to 4.2.2? This update appears to be for Verizon phones exclusively? Or am I misunderstanding?

Correct, this is only for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. The GSM GNexes, including the Intl version, should have been OTA'd to 4.2.1. Where did you buy your Intl GNex, where do you use it, SIM card?

I bought it in the UK, I have used it in many different countries since I purchased it, and currently I'm using Base in Belgium. The last OTA was to 4.1.1 - I don't remember in which country that was done.

You can use the Toolkit on XDA to push the newest 4.2.1 Rom to your device, even without Rooting I believe.

I really, REALLY miss my Galaxy Nexus just for the fact that it was pure Android with such easy root/customization. I have a DNA now, and I want to get rid of it so bad because I can barely do as much. 🙁

While I'm loving my Note II, I really enjoyed the Galaxy Nexus while I had it. Very comfortable to hold, stock Android, that was a good experience.

Yes, it was a great device for what it was even though it had a lackluster design and subpar internals. I loved that phone so very, very much.

You're on carrier firmware and not on Google factory "takju" or "yakju" firmware. You can convert your existing build to "takju" or "yakju" by flashing the stock 4.2.2 image from Google developer site but you have to root and unlock your bootloader which will wipe your phone. Once you're on official Google firmware you'll receive any new updates direct from Google. Until then you're at mercy of the carrier as far as updates.
